Why do you investigate the paranormal?  Growing up, I was scared of ghosts and hated the dark.  But as I grew older I wanted to see if there really was anything to be scared of.  My interest has turned into a hobby and I strive to find answers.  I have never seen a ghost or experienced anything paranormal but I welcome that now on an investigation.
